Natural vs. Lab Grown Diamond – What’s the Difference?

Today, you can choose between two types of real diamonds: natural and lab-grown . Both are made of crystallized carbon and exhibit identical properties – what sets them apart is their origin, availability, and price structure.

What is a natural diamond?

A natural diamond is formed deep beneath the Earth's surface over billions of years. High pressure and temperature cause carbon atoms to crystallize into an extremely hard and brilliant structure. Each stone is unique and bears traces of its natural origin.

All of our natural diamonds are certified by GIA or IGI and follow established ethical guidelines – including the Kimberley Process , which discourages trade in conflict stones.

What is a lab-grown diamond?

A lab-grown diamond has exactly the same chemical, physical and optical properties as a natural diamond, but it is created in a laboratory using advanced technology. There are two main methods:

  • HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) – simulates the pressure in the Earth's interior
  • CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) – builds up the diamond layer by layer in a vacuum

Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds – not imitations – and all of ours are certified by IGI or GIA.
